Happy Halloween!
My hands are free - amazing!
at least that’s what Jonah thinks. We went for a play date on Monday. It was my first attempt at taking all three kids out by myself. It went great other than Elias screaming, but that would happen no matter what. The funny part, and the reason for the post is that on the way to our friends house I was explaining that his buddy has a new sister just like him. He thought about this for a while and looked a little confused so I went on to explain that his mommy had a baby and told Jonah the baby’s name. He paused and said, “what’s the boy’s name?” I smiled and responded, “he doesn’t have a baby brother, just a baby sister.” Jonah said, “he forget to grow the other one?” Hahaha!
The twins had their two month check-up. It was almost a week ago now, but man is it crazy around here! I actually took all three kids in, but I also took Nathan and Maw so each adult had one kids. Good thing too, because they all got shots.
Bebe is a champ, as we all know, she weighs in at 11 lbs 1 oz and is 21 inches long (I was this long when I was born, ha). She is 50th %tile for weight. This doesn’t even take into account that she was premie. You go girl!
Elias is 10 lbs 7 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. He is 3rd - 5th %tile for weight, but still growing along a good curve. Both babies are very healthy! Elias apparently has colic, but Nathan and I view him as the “normal” baby and Bebe as amazing. The pediatrician views colic as a sign of a strong baby because she said when we lived in the wild that the screamers never got left behind or forgotten, but rather they got the most food and attention. Interesting thought; I forgot to ask her at what point it became a detriment to their exsistance and they were left behind on purpose :)
Jonah got his flu shot. That was terrible until Maw offered to get him chocolate ice cream. He didn’t mention the shot again!
So all in all everyone is great and we couldn’t be happier.

Updated photos of Elias since he has been somewhat overlooked in previous posts. He is getting more animated and a little less floppy. Enjoy!
This is the new term for adding a few strips of fabric and a rug to my two year olds room. The goal was to make the room more sound proof and inviting so that my son would stop waking up at all hours of the night, coming downstairs and asking if the sun was up yet.
I’m sure I referred to our project as decorating at some point in time and he heard “decor-ray-shitting”. He got so excited about the whole project and the fact that people were paying attention to his room that he has been more than enthusiastic to loudly tell everyone that we have been decor-ray-shitting.
The truth is his room looks terrible, totally mismatched and half-assed, but he thinks it’s a palace. I have rough cut black fabric hung over his windows to block sound and light, a blue rug on one end of the room next to a twin mattress thrown on the floor and a small table and chairs on the other.
Today he had a friend over and immediately invited her upstairs saying, “come and see my cool room!” The excitement in his voice is wonderful enough to make me want to decor-ray-shit his room every week!
Last year at the same apple festival, just for comparison.
Grandma, affectionately known as “Maw” left at 3 pm on Friday. At this point in time Jonah was playing in the rocks of the driveway, Elias was sleeping and Bebe was in her bed. Dada was supposed to get off work and be home by 3 pm. He called about 5 mins after Maw left and informed me that he had a case added on and it would be another hour or two. Ahhhhhh!!!!!!
Elias started crying, Bebe pooped and Jonah said, “You play with me mama. Put those babies down!”
Well, we made it through, but when Dada got home Jonah was naked in the front yard taking a bath in the baby bath tub, Bebe was in the driveway in a vibrator seat and Elias was swaddled up inside and placed under the window so I could listen to his screaming to make sure at least there was air passing through his lips :)
This started the weekend off. It was us and three kids and we were out number to put it nicely. By Sunday morning we were in the same outfits as friday afternoon and significantly more tired. Over coffee (erase the picture that you have in your head of us sitting in our robes at the kitchen table flipping through the newspaper with steam wafting up from the cup and insert two people that look like cocaine junkies with cold coffee sitting in another room and three screaming children) I looked at Nathan and said, “get dressed, we are going to church!” And that is what we did. Unshowered, unshaven and completely disheveled with ushered our three children into the free childcare and sat down with a hot cup of Joe :) Yes, coffee is allowed at our church and they even had some snacks!
We smiled at each other and took a deep breath.
After church it all started again, but we were renewed in more than one way. We took the kids out to eat; meaning one of us sat in the van while the other one got food, brought it back and we ate in the parking lot while changing a few diapers. We made a trip to Lowes for a toilet seal (yes, on top of everything else our toilet is leaking) then headed home to prepare for our Apple Festival.
My good friend Becky came to visit and helped us take the kids to Carter’s Mountain for their apple festival. It was a great afternoon and the twins did awesome in general. Just a little crying, but Jonah had a blast. He got some great time with Dada, got to eat apple donuts and picked out a giant pumpkin!
That night Becky helped out with bath/bedtime and we realized that we need three people to actually get three kids in bed. Thank you, thank you, thank you Becky!
The next day was Monday, but was unfortunately a holiday. I never understood why parent’s sighed when a kid said it was a holiday and they didn’t have school, but I now completely understand. Thankfully Nathan did not have to work so again it was 2 against 3, which is still better than 1 against 3. No details to report on Monday and I think that is because it was a blur, a loud blur!
Here are a few more pics of the weekend. We still don’t have a lot of Elias because who wants to take pictures of a screaming baby? Not us! And that is pretty much what he does. We love you Elias.

My sweet sweet girl.

The special stroller did NOT work well at an apple orchard, but we didn’t tip over!

Check out the view. Who wouldn’t want to live in VA?

She was just holding on in case she wanted it later.
I just had to share this :)
This is what my two year old told me when I asked him what he was doing trying to go out the front door at 3:30 am. Thank goodness my husband just installed a 5ft high dead bolt (the 4th lock on the door).
